About this deal

If the calcium phosphate takes a harder, more dense form, the “wet finger test” won’t work. In some instances, chemical analysis is required to definitively identify the mineral composition. What Are Coprolites?

The story starts with Danny, Granny and Dinosaur eating dinner celebrating Granny's 1008th birthday. The eat green mush - Broccoli, eggs and hard Brussels sprouts. Dinosaur eats Danny's as well because Granny won't let them leave the table till their plates are clear. In the picture is a coprolite that shows evidence of insect burrowing. That means insects dug holes and tunnels in the poop and lived there! 🐜 The way an object looks under a microscope can tell you whether or not it’s a coprolite. If your specimen appears to be granular, unfortunately, it is probably not a coprolite. This poop-filled extravaganza is brought to life by the preposterously talented illustrator Garry Parsons, and the brand new sea-shanty rhythm is perfect for reading out loud. We also hadn't realised that the book was one of a series until we'd finished it, and as a standalone it left a lot of unanswered questions related to the gran's obsession with green and the existence of the magic swing. Coprolites are the fossilized feces of prehistoric animals (enter poop joke here!) They can be found in sedimentary deposits throughout the world, including locations all over the United States, Canada, Australia and Europe. Since then many other types of fossils have been found inside coprolites including plants, pollen grains, insect remains and even microscopic animal burrows! How To Identify Coprolites Using the poop equation, we can work out the size of the croc who made Precious - it was 6.5m (21 ft) long! 😲

This time it is Granny's 1008th birthday and she makes Danny and Dinosaur a big feast of eggs, broccoli and sprouts and she won't let them leave until they have eaten everything on their plates, Danny doesn't want his so the Dinosaur eats both of their party food. There are exceptions to this rule though. For example, marine creatures that eat sediment from the bottom of the ocean floor would have food particles in their droppings and appear granular even if they were actually coprolites.Join Danny and Dino as they search for Easter eggs in this EGGcellent lift-the-flap story! With rip-roaring rhyme and laugh-out-loud silliness, the Dinosaur that Pooped series has sold over 1.5 million copies around the world! No, coprolites do not smell. Even though a coprolite is the fossilized remains of an animal’s actual poop, it’s no longer poop. Since it’s gone through a fossilization process and all of the biological material has been replaced by minerals and turned into stone, there’s no longer a poopy odor to the animal dung. How Are Coprolites Formed? This new series is the perfect introduction to the world of Danny and Dino. The poop-filled adventure is written by bestselling author duo Tom Fletcher and Dougie Poynter! We can also learn that they weren’t able to properly digest all of the bones as little bits can be seen all along the surface of Barnum! However, some lungfish and shark species have very unique spiral-shaped valves in their intestines. 🦈

We discovered The Dinosaur That Pooped … series last year and since then the books have been a firm favourite with my two. The Dinosaur That Pooped Christmas made it on to our list last year and will definitely be included this year too. We’ve made a few dinosaur crafts but we wanted to make something special to accompany this festive favourite – dinosaur poo playdough! The Dinosaur That Pooped Christmas I placed the dinosaur poo playdough on the table along with a mixture of colourful pom poms, sequins, pipe cleaners and gingerbread people and left it out as an invitation to play for my children when they got home from school.Burrowing causes the poop to break down and create nutrients for the soil. These nutrients help other plants grow faster. 🌱🌿 Just like modern day animals, some prehistoric animals ingested stones for ballast or digestive purposes. These are known as gastroliths which can also be found in coprolites. If present, they generally have a smooth surface. Looking Under A Microscope

I enjoyed reading this book. it was different to most children's books. It was a slightly silly story. The pictures help to communicate the story and are one of the main draw to the book. The onomatopoeic words are written in large bold writing, so if you were reading the story out loud - it is giving you a prompt to extenuate these words. The reason for this is that their poop is usually high in calcium phosphate, the same mineral found in bone. This mineral can appear in many forms. It can be hard and dense or soft and porous. Discover the pooptastic world of Dino and Danny, from bestselling authors Tom Fletcher and Dougie Poynter! The first coprolites were discovered by Mary A nning in the early 1800’s who theorized that the strange “poop shaped” fossils she found were actually the fossilized poop of dinosaurs…the ichthyosaurs and plesiosaurus. Both of my children love The Dinosaur That Pooped series of books and this is another bedtime favourite of my sons. There's something about Dinosaurs and poop that seems to be an immediate hit with my son and although he is too young to read yet he always knows when to shout Poo! in line with the story. George is holding a coprolite from South Carolina, USA. It has perfect top and bottom bite marks from some type of prehistoric critter – probably a fish.
