About this deal

As Catherine continued to talk, I could sense how deeply she was suffering. Over the years I had helped many patients like Catherine through the agonies of their fears, and I felt confident that I could help her, too. I decided we would begin by delving into her childhood, looking for the original sources of her problems. Usually this kind of insight helps to alleviate anxiety. If necessary, and if she could manage to swallow pills, I would offer her some mild anti-anxiety medications to make her more comfortable. This was standard textbook treatment for Catherine's symptoms, and I never hesitated to use tranquilizers, or even antidepressant medicines, to treat chronic, severe fears and anxieties. Now I use these medicines much more sparingly and only temporarily, if at all. No medicine can reach the real roots of these symptoms. My experiences with Catherine and others like her have proved this to me. Now I know there can be cures, not just the suppression or covering-over of symptoms. First, Catherine specifically named the year of the first past-life memory she recovered as “1863 BC.” Some reviewers took this specificity as a sign that Catherine (or Weiss) lied about her experience. If Catherine were truly speaking from the viewpoint of someone in that time, she would have no reason to add “BC,” as scholars wouldn’t begin dividing history into “BC” and “AD” until more than 2,000 years after that supposed memory. Happiness is really rooted in simplicity. The tendency to excessiveness in thought and action diminishes happiness. – Many Lives, Many Masters by Brian L. Weiss, M.D. In talking about a period which he calls in-between, described as a state between life and death, where the traits for the next life are pre-determined, Dr.Weiss borrows heavily from the Eastern psycholgical concept of traits. The Eastern thought already believes in somewhat pre-determined traits, which shape our lives, form an integral part of the karmic cycle. According to this thought, these traits which are in fluid form, propel us from birth to birth throughout our cosmic cycle.

The knowledge Dr. Weiss received has been circulated in a well articulated manner and the reading keeps you on an edge with marvelous revelations at every stage. This one of worst books l'v ever read. Where is the scientific evidence that the auther insisted that he used throughout the whole book? Who are Catherine? he doesn't know anything about her and he insisted that she is not actresses or not making up anything, he doesn't even collect information about her?or asked any of her friends about her personality. Weiss graduated from Columbia University in 1966, [4] [5] and later graduated from the Yale University School of Medicine in 1970, completing an internship in internal medicine at the New York University Medical Center, then returning to Yale for a two-year residency in psychiatry. [6] He went on to become Head of Psychiatry, Mount Sinai Medical Center, Miami. [7] [8] Past life regression and future life progression [ edit ] Patience and timing … everything comes when it must come. A life cannot be rushed, cannot be worked on a schedule as so many people want it to be. We must accept what comes to us at a given time, and not ask for more. – Many Lives, Many Masters by Brian L. Weiss, M.D. In the end we finally find out some of the good messages from the Masters which I thought very good but it was all too little too late to save this one for me.

Me enloquecía esa idea. It is guided by greed and ambition, steered by fear. In this way it will eventually destroy itself. – Many Lives, Many Masters by Brian L. Weiss, M.D. Several months prior to her appointment with me, Catherine had required vocal cord surgery for a benign nodule. She had been anxious prior to the surgery but was absolutely terrified upon awakening in the recovery room. It took hours for the nursing staff to calm her. After her recovery in the hospital, she sought out Dr. Edward Poole. Ed was a kindly pediatrician whom Catherine had met while working in the hospital. They had both felt an instant rapport and had developed a close friendship. Catherine talked freely to Ed, telling him of her fears, her relationship with Stuart, and that she felt she was losing control over her life. He insisted that she make an appointment with me and only me, not with any of my associate psychiatrists. When Ed called to tell me about his referral, he explained that, for some reason, he thought only I could truly understand Catherine, even though the other psychiatrists also had excellent credentials and were skilled therapists. Catherine did not call me, however.

At the time of my first session with Catherine, I had no idea that my life was about to turn upside down, that the frightened, confused woman across the desk from me would be the catalyst, and that I would never be the same again.

Hi Jon, I appreciate you critique its quite mind provoking. Am a Psychology student and as I sit in class and listen to Schizophrenia explained and other Mental/Psychological health issues. First appreciate Dr Weiss's own admission that he had strong temptations to verify the material using science, but the thrill was too strong especially when an aspect of his own life is brought into picture by Catherine. For me he did his work and for Great men and women of our century he gave us a challenge to go further and prove that the spirit world really exists. Reincarnation is actually mentioned in the bible but Christians only see and hear what they want i.e. First Adam fell to sin, Jesus, second Adam. Thats what Dr Weiss has made plain. Jesus taught about John the Baptist being the spirit of Elijah made strong and more resolute to serve. I don't personally believe in reincarnation but I would like to go further. What sets Many Lives, Many Masters apart is Dr. Weiss's personal evolution throughout the therapeutic process. Initially perplexed and skeptical, he gradually begins to recognize the validity and healing potential of past-life regression therapy. The book presents an intimate depiction of his own personal growth as he wrestles with his scientific training and preconceived notions, ultimately embracing the idea of reincarnation.
